So. Buying, placing and then tuning strings on a violin is annoying and takes a long time when you have no idea what you're doing.

Comments:
Did you get that snooty woman in Allan's? I did. She's like "And do you know what string you want?"
And I'm all like "NAH, BITCH, I HAS A LIFE!"
(but then I was actually like "Yes, tis teh littlest one, please and thanks".)

Nah, I had a pretty cool dude who had less idea than I did about strings (he's a pianist) - he didn't even know where they kept them.

...he then passed me on to another guy who was quite helpful. I just told him I had borrowed an electric violin and that the only four-stringed instruments that I had played until now had been bass and the snare drum. He worked his way down, price-wise, from the $200 dollar set (heart-attack) to the $140 set (coma) to the $110 set (a slight light-headedness) to the 30 dollar set.

Uh, bargain, said me, I'll take those there cheapest ones.

Also, I didn't go to allen's. I almost never go there any more, they don't have any cool instruments, just uber-cheap ones, or middle-rangeish ones with no frilly bits.

I bought these from BIlly Hyde. You know, the place with fancy, overpriced crap.

Still take pride in the fact that I have a bass that neither place stocks and probably never will stock, not just because it's relatively expensive (normally), but because it's stupidly unpopular with teh cool kidz. Go me.
